Work with cryogenic materials is essential for University research. However cryogenic materials present a number of very significant risks, both to those working with them and those working where they are used by others. In this safety presentation Dr. Hunt will discuss the risks presented by liquid nitrogen in particular and provide practical suggestions to reduce risk to an acceptable level. This will include a short video that highlights the routine issues of carrying out this work, and how the Safety Office Chemical Safety team can reduce risks by providing routine on-site replenishment for samples stored in liquid nitrogen vapour phase.
This training presentation is strongly recommended for anyone who uses liquid nitrogen and other cryogens in their research, and those who are involved in the management of liquid nitrogen storage. A certificate is available to those who successfully complete this training, which includes a short on-line quiz to reinforce key.
